still

I Go Among Trees and Sit Still
by
Wendell Berry

I go among trees and sit still.
All my stirring becomes quiet
around me like circles on water.
My tasks lie in their places
where I left them, asleep like cattle.

Then what is afraid of me comes
and lives a while in my sight.
What it fears in me leaves me,
and the fear of me leaves it.
It sings, and I hear its song.

Then what I am afraid of comes.
I live for a while in its sight.
What I fear in it leaves it,
and the fear of it leaves me.
It sings, and I hear its song.

After days of labor,
 mute in my consternations,
I hear my song at last,
and I sing it. As we sing,
the day turns, the trees move.

life

“Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.”
Mother Teresa
Almost everyday we talk about doing what gives us life.
It's good to be reminded that as long as you find life and joy in the
everyday simple things everything else seems to fall into place.
I often find life in:
meeting new people & encouraging them wherever they are
spending quality time with my community
growing my unborn babe
slow mornings spent in the word and around the breakfast table
being outside
baking & cooking with real ingredients
growing my own food

sheesh. Life is amazing.
